Subject: | Seasonal Allergies Driving Me Crazy | |
This is the time of year that I love and hate! I love the warmer weather but suffer big time from seasonal allergies. I sneeze multiple times (my "record" is 21 consecutive) and my eyes go crazy. It seems when I find something that works then the season has passed and if I try it the next year it doesn't help. When it rains after a long period of being dry is when it is the worst. I think the rain just kicks it all up into the air. Is there anything I can do besides taking the different medication all of the time? George |

Try Claritin or Zyrtec as soon as the snow is off the ground. One pill each day until your allergies are over. If it's this time of year that always bother you, then it's tree pollen that bothers you. Start with the meds in the beginning of May until July/August. If your allergies start sooner, then you also have problems with grass pollen. If they go further, you can add in ragweed. Good luck. |

I have the same problem. My eyes are usually the worst part. They will get so watery that I can't see. I have started to use Alaway eye drops from Bausch and Lomb a few times a day and they work wonders on my allergy eyes. I have also heard that eating a teaspoon of local honey every day (it has to be local) during allergy season works wonders. |

I've tried Claritin but only Claritin D worked for me but after a few weeks it didn't work either. I've also tried Zyrtec but haven't had much success. I will try next year to start one of them early and see if that helps. I've never heard of the "Alaway" before and will have to look into that for sure. I'm diabetic so have to watch the honey thing but I'll see what my Dr says. Thanks all! George |

Talk to your doctor if your allergies are not controllable with over the counter meds. Your dr can give you some good ideas. My son has allergies that are worse in the spring and his dr we had when we noticed this had him add singulair to the children's zyrtec he takes and that made a huge difference. Flonase being added can help over the hump of spring allergies too. |

Have anyone ever consider that your home might be the problem that make you allergic? Check out this article. I think the tips in it is good for the victims in the recent flood event in Midwest. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/780193/10_ways_to_say_goodbye_to_allergens.html?cat=5 |
