Subject: | Positive effect of heart attack | |
Some family members of persons who had suffered from a heart attack due to an unhealthy lifestyle decided to take a different route as it relates to taking better care of themselves. I think it's a great idea to learn from someone else's mistakes. |

There are actually a few ways to put a positive spin on a heart attack. Often finding the good in the bad is the only way to cope with feeling like your life and health is out of your control. It's not. A heart attack, as mentioned, could shed light on an unhealthy lifestyle, giving a wake up call to the patient and those around them. It is also a sign of many other serious issues and being able to get proper medical attention to the right parts of your body is key to maintaining a satisfactory quality of life. You would be AMAZED at the difference the right treatment, the right medicine or even the right surgery can have on you. A person may not even realize that their lifestyle, eating habits and medical condition affect their emotional well being and ability to complete healthy mental cycles. Heart attacks can also be symptoms of literally, a broken heart. I urge anyone with any medical conditions to evaluate their spiritual and emotional well being as well. I know a woman who had a heart attack and she knows in her heart its due to emotional stress at home. She keeps getting palpitations and refuses to make a positive change in her emotional life. Sadly, it could kill her. The realization of the connection between her health and her emotional state was a positive thing. She now knows what she needs to do to rid herself of that stress and live a healthier and happier life. It at least brought that to her attention. Sadly she has done nothing.. |

Wow, TDUVIC, I didn't even link emotional stress to heart attack, I know you are not making a claim here, but somehow I believe that could possibly happen. |

The other thing of course is that for most people, there is no warning signs. The first thing that they know (or rather the family knows) is that they learn that their relative died of a heart attack having never had one before. Having a small heart attack is rather a good thing because it allows you to get treatment and clean up your act. |

That is why conversations like this one are nice to be a part of. Imagine if you saw someone sitting in a mall or a parking lot having a heart attack. You would jump up and help them right away! Don't wait until it is too late to minister to the souls around you. A simple smile works miracles. Surprise yourself one day and actually ask someone if they need someone to talk to when they clearly do. You could very well be saving a life on so many different levels. A happy heart is a healthy heart.

It seems when someone affects our loved ones many of us try and learn as much as we can to better ourselves from those past mistakes. I think its a good role in learning as much as we can, but we do not always need to wait for something bad to educate ourselves with, we could just as easy start now. |

It unfortunately requires a shock, or something bringing the problem to your doorstep for it to seem real to people. People are just too busy these days to consider their health when they are seemingly healthy at the time. |

That's true Rosetta, we basically learn to live life on the go, and sometimes we figure if we don't do certain things, our world will fall apart. |

Lol, yes it will all help but its better if you are not at death's door when you start trying. Its so much easier to keep healthy than it is to mend a broken body. |

Very true, drabble. As one who has survived a heart attack and is now trying to repair the damage done, I wish I had worked hardeer at maintaining a healthy lifestyle and avoided the heart attack and recovery process all together. |
