Subject: | Natural acid reflux help? | |
I have taken OTC's before but it seems they make the stomach pains that I get even worse for a good 30 minutes or so. I hate the idea of taking them and I know I need to see a doctor (next visit is a month out) but are there any natural things I could use instead? |

Binkodw is right-you don't want to be treating with antacids. You need something to reduce acid production, as well as making the lifestyle changes that will help-like avoiding spicy foods, greasy foods and elevating the head of your bed. |

How does one know for sure without seeing a doctor that GERD is the issue? Does it depend on the frequency and if so what is it? |

I know some people that have drank milk to try and get rid of it but when you drink too much too quick its not going to stay where it should. Kind of worried with all the gerd talk I hear around too, how common is this? |

You cannot know for sure that it is GERD without seeing a doctor. As to what Alexis mentioned with drinking milk, do not do that. Milk will increase your acid production so that it will feel better for a little while but will make it worse afterwards. Get checked by a doctor instead of self-diagnosing. |
