Subject: | My bad eyes | |
Does anyone know how much worse your eyesight can decrease by your age or does that even matter? I need a new set of glasses, but Im thinking contacts but still not sure. Anyone with bad peepers I need to hear from you, esp. if you have done or know someone that has done the lasic surgery Im looking at that too. |

My eyes have always been bad. I got them from my father, who had the same eyesight as I do -- terrible! And then he developed cataracts when he got older. They say that light colored eyes will develop that sooner too, and I got my light eyes from him also. Drat! Eyesight can get to be terrible over the years and you also might go from nearsighted to farsighted when you hit middle age! Almost every person who is my age and wears glasses also needs bifocals. I am used to wearing glasses and don't mind them at all. But I don't recommend bifocals. I never did get used to them and I'm looking forward to getting two pairs of glasses when I go to the eye doctor next. I personally am more than a bit afraid of having corrective surgery on my eyes. Until I hear that it's 100% safe and that nothing unwanted can happen to my eyesight after the operation, I won't have them done. |

Most people develop some degree of far sightedness as they age, but it doesn't mean that near sightedness will be corrected. Rather, it can lead to needing bifocals. |

I have a brother who did lasik and loved the results. I have also heard numerous praises from people about the procedure ranging in all ages. If you get contacts and are worried about having to change your prescription then maybe just stick to daily disposables or 2 week lenses etc. |

My father in-law had laser surgery but is back to wearing glasses. It works for some and not for others and even then you may still need glasses to read. I for one have never wanted contacts as the whole idea of sticking my finger in my eye is a bit weird to me. I also have bad allergies that cause my eyes to itch and water a lot. Poor eyesight to me is just part of growing up (old). George |

Go for laser surgery. It will correct your eyesight. Worth all the money in the world, and it is perfectly safe. |
