Subject: Hypothyroidism

What are some symptoms of hypothyroidism? I am sluggish and tired all of the time and I feel so cold. I've been told that this may be some symptoms of hypothyroidism and have scheduled a doctor's appointment. Is this truly symptomatic of hypothyroidism or are my friends just telling me this?

Those could be symptoms of several disorders. As far as hypothyroidism is concerned it could be related to that. Being cold all the time sounds more like a circulation issue where as with hypothyroidism you become more sensitive to the cold rather than always cold.

Here are just some of the symptoms of hypothyroidism:# Fatigue

Fatigue or weakness; Weight gain; Dry and/or pale skin; Hair loss; Cold intolerance; Muscle aches and cramping; Constipation -- There are other symptoms though but these were ones I could find!

Weight gain is the symptom which my friend who suffers from this noticed first. Her eating habits stayed exactly the same, no change in exercise, and her weight began to balloon.

Yes, those are symptoms of hypothyroidism but as was pointed out, they can also be symptoms of other problems. Almost all hypothyroid sufferers will experience the weight gain before they notice other symptoms. If left alone, it can have heart repercussions and your hair can start falling out. It's a simple blood test to check so if you think it might be a problem, just see the doctor.

Maybe I'd better schedule a doctor's appointment then. I've gained a lot of weight and I've not started eating any differently. I also have the fatigue and the other symptoms. I'm going through menopause too but maybe I'm having other problems. It sounds like it's time for a physical!
