If you google, you will find tons of information. Some signs to watch for are sleep difficulties (too much or insomnia), withdrawing from people and activities that they normally enjoy, negativity, suicidal threats or comments and general sadness. Everyone gets depressed on occasion but if it lasts for several weeks, that person should see a professional. |

From: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/depression/DS00175/DSECTION=2 Symptoms of depression include: Loss of interest in normal daily activities Feeling sad or down Feeling hopeless Crying spells for no apparent reason Problems sleeping Trouble focusing or concentrating Difficulty making decisions Unintentional weight gain or loss Irritability Restlessness Being easily annoyed Feeling fatigued or weak Feeling worthless Loss of interest in sex Thoughts of suicide or suicidal behavior Unexplained physical problems, such as back pain or headaches Depression symptoms can vary greatly because different people experience depression in different ways. A 25-year-old man with depression may not have the same symptoms as a 70-year-old man, for instance. For some people, depression symptoms are so severe that it's obvious something isn't right. Others may feel generally miserable or unhappy without really knowing why. |

That is a great list gbyrd. I currently suffer from depression and I can tell you it is no fun. I hate how I feel when I'm not on meds. Unfortuntely getting on the right meds can be a time consuming process before you find something the works. Chris |

I had a friend who was so depressed after her marriage fell apart, along with the other problems, she eventually just wasted away and died, leaving her young son. |

Gbyrd that was a wonderful and informative list. I have suffered from depression for years and battle it daily. It is no fun but back in the day there was little media on the subject of depression. So now days I love when people can at will find all information pertinent to identifying it. Thank you |

Depression is different in different people some seem to be really happy and then really low others control it well and then crack, you can research but really you need to seek medical help. |
