Subject: Headaches

I've been getting a headache everyday after lunch. I don't drink caffeine, so I know it's not that. I thought it might be allergies, but it's rained so hard the last two days, there can't be any allergens left in the air. It's almost migraine like, but I can't take much because I'm pregnant. What can I do?

You know, pregnancy itself is a common cause of headaches. But given the timing, could it be something you ate, or else a blood sugar issue perhaps?

The fact that it happens after lunch might be a clue but especially because you are pregnant, I'd suggest you consult your doctor. I used to have headaches every day and after a battery of tests, it turned out that my glasses needed to be changed.

I managed to get one this past day that would not give up until well into the evening hours. No idea what caused it but quite happy its gone. Check with your OB it could be pregnancy related. Can you describe the type of pain you had by chance?

Are you more stressed in the afternoon more than any other time in the day. Do you worry about making dinner, getting the place cleaned up before hubby gets home. Perhaps it's related to your thought process and your stress factor.

You know, I think regular headaches are a symptom of either pre-eclampsia or gestational diabetes. So it would be worth checking with your health care provider.

I think you should go get a good checkup and make sure it's nothing to worry about. It may well be something that will clear up itself but it can't hurt to make sure.

Try drinking more water. I only suffer from headaches due to dehydration, and it does work wonders and it sure beats taking medication, especially as you are pregnant, that is thirsty work in itself!
