Subject: From ticks

What are some of the things that a person or an animal can get from ticks? We just coated both the outside pets with anti tick ontiment but I just wondered about it as really I dont think I have seen any ticks in almost a decade now.

I think animals can get them from just being outside. I'm not sure what they actually do to an animal or person. I think they get deep down in your skin and cause infections and all sorts of other problems.

You do not have to go outside to pick up ticks although it is less common to just find them crawling around your home, especially if you are not in a high tick area. The most noted disease spread by ticks is Lyme. Easily treatable in dogs, it can be very painful in humans. There are other diseases spread by ticks, but nothing as dangerous I can think of. Symptoms of Lyme can take weeks or months to turn up.

Lyme disease is the most popular disease carried by ticks. Other diseases caused by ticks are Rocky Mountain spotted fever and Colorado tick fever.

When I looked up the different illnesses you can get from ticks, I was surprised that you can get so many!

Here is a site that has a whole table of the diseases and the symptoms that you can get from ticks.

I think everyone in the country needs to know the symptoms and to keep vigilant to look for them:

here itsd an everyday happening. Ticks live in ground, trees etc. They arecarried by almost every animal except humans. But humans removed them easier and we are hairless so we see them quicker.

I know of a guy who was at home wehna tick fell on him from his closet. Hea had been out playing Golf and put up his golf hat ana was bitten., he developed Lyme and was very sick for six months.

Iknow that for most fo us a tick bitjust itches. We have brown dog and black ticks here. Deer ticks are also cmoon and they are smaller.

we get an itchy bitthat looks like a mosquito bite. Sometimes we get headaches, but dont thnk to omuch about it. When ajoint swells we take an antibiotic fo a few days and itgoes away.

We are, I am hapy to say very causla with ticks down here and often tick bites rae so routine that most people dont give them a second thought.

We normally are pulling a lot of ticks off the dog and cat and treat them during the spring, summer, and fall months. If we take walks in the woods, we check the kids over when we get home because someone usually has a tick on them. They can come in on the pets and on your clothing and some are so small that they are not noticed. The biggest illness to be gotten from ticks is Lyme Disease and as Skatts mentioned, there are more but I'm not overly educated on what they are.

I do not think I have even seen a tick in over a decade. I used to live someplace that our backyard was like the backyard hangout for ticks or something. As a child it used to worry me all the time thinking one would bite me.

What do you think?
