Subject: Exercise, fresh air, and depression

I've been suffering from depression for a while now, it started as post-partum depression, and now I think it's just situational/chemical. I've made myself go outside and get fresh air for at least 20 minutes everyday this week, and I've been exercising, and man, what a difference. After a week, I'm feeling like a different person. It's amazing. Now I just hope to keep it up.

I wish that I could share your success, though I am pleased for you, that you have found it. I need something to help me cope right now, and I am thinking that it's going to take something rather stronger than fresh air.

I am the same way with seasonal depression as well as other stress/depression issues. I find that even making myself go out in the cold while its sunny can help out alot. Its not always fun but you can feel better afterward.

For me some moderate exercise and a breath of fresh air do wonders. I find winters rather difficult when the weather is always lousy and I might not get to be outside doing anything for several consecutive weeks.

Yeah, I think part of it has been the weather this year. It's been unusually grey this year. Just so much darkness. We had a nice day yesterday, and it was amazing what sitting out all afternoon did for my spirits.

A nice day is always a big pick up, and of course exercise causes the release of endorphins that help to make you feel good as well. So it makes sense, and I hope it continues to work for you.

I am so glad to hear that this little change is making you feel better.

I too am suffering from post natal depression and my situation is not helping matters either.

Maybe I will take what you did this week, and do it myself, even if I just sit out in the garden for a while.
