My dog has been diagnosed with epilepsy, which is just a term they use when they don't know what is causing the seizures. There are fewer tests that they run on animals to determine cause than on humans, so it does not surprise me that they have been able to determine so many different types in humans. It is a tough, stressful condition - I know I feel helpless watching my dog during a seizure, so I can only imagine what a parent feels like. |

Having a child with epilepsy is a very scary thing. My sisters child has it (her youngest) and everyone in the family decided it best to take a course given at the local hospital to learn more about it. |

A friend of mine with epilepsy died last month. He was taking a bath when he had a seizure, he drowned in the tub. Epilepsy can be very dangerous. I had it when I was young, but I guess I grew out of it. Mine was pretty much under control with medication though. You should try to avoid dangerous situations if you are epileptic. But who would consider a bath a dangerous situation? Maybe someone will read this and be a little more careful when they're home alone. |
