Subject: Dry skin

Now that I'm staying in Colorado for a few weeks, as compared to living in Florida, my skin has gotten totally dry and cracked. My poor hands are suffering badly. The rest of my skin is also dry, but not as bad as my hands.

I picked up some Burt's Bees hand salve, which is definitely helping. And I'm drinking a ton of water, which doesn't seem to be helping that I can tell.

Maybe if you were not drinking the water you skin would have been that much worse. I am sure you are looking forward to getting back to Florida for your skin sake. I didn't know it was that hot in Colorado.

Thick lotion is always a nice thing to have handy when you need it. I noticed my elbows do this when we have really harsh weather around these parts, maybe you could pick up some to keep around?

The Burt's really is good stuff. I found that I was best off if I started with a light lotion, let it soak in for ten minutes then put the salve on. Then I'd go to bed.

A couple of uses of the light lotion then in the day are enough to get me through.

It is probably more the cold as opposed to the heat that is causing the problem with the dry skin. I live in the Midwest and when the winter settles in I battle dry skin constantly. You really can't do better that Burt's Bee when it comes to treating it though.

It's not so much a heat or cold thing I don't think, but more a severe lack of humidity compared to Florida. In Florida, it's so humid, you really can't leave a loaf of bread out on the counter for more than a few days or it starts to mold. Here in Colorado, I don't know how long I'd have to leave it out. Heck, I might have to introduce the mold spore to the loaf to get it going. :)

Try a humidifier or just simmering whatever on the stove for a bit each day. Eventually, your body will likely adjust to the difference in humidity but it should help to introduce some moisture back into the air.

Ah, a humidifier. Excellent idea. I'm trying it today!! Let the dryness beware.

So far, the Burt's helps as long as I put it on about 6 times a day and that stuff isn't cheap!
