Subject: | Do Bad Backs Run in Families? | |
Do bad backs, bad knees etc., run in families? My Dad had a bad back. I have a bad back, too, but I was in a car accident when I was 12. I broke the windshield. Seat belts were not required back then and actually our car didn't even have them. My husband claims he has a bad back and bad knees because they both run in his family. Can that be true? |

I'm not sure if bad backs per see run in families but no doubt a lot of factors that lead to bad backs run in families. |

In my family, I am the only one with a bad back. I tend to think that bad backs can be influenced by lifestyle sometimes, more than heredity. I know that my job has certainly contributed to my bad back through the repetitive motion required (major back strain). |

I would go with bone shape/bone issues as well. I know that I had a case of scoliosis but I have no idea how it happened. Anyone else in the family who has back issues are from random things (car wreck, sports injury, etc). |

I seem to hear more talk about the random things like bone lose that runs in family's more than bad backs, even though I am sure it could lead to it. if you have less dense bones why wouldn't it? |
