Subject: Dental abscess

Is there anything that can be done to treat or help treat a dental abscess while waiting to be seen by a dentist which usually takes several days to a week?

Unless you can get your hands on some antibiotics, Amoxicillin works great, you're not going to be able to treat it.

Oral gel or Ambesol won't work because they are topical treatments. The abscess is down in the root. Try to find an emergency dentist. That is what I ended up having to do because I was in such excruciating pain.

If your pain is as severe as mine was, I truly recommend that you do this.

I have used a tea bag to try and pull the abscess out before and relieve some of the pressure until I could see an ER dentist. This worked for me over a three day wait before I could be seen. I do not suggest trying to dig it out or anything like you read sometimes from people online.

Just a regular Tea bag? or any special kind? The only DDS that is local that takes our medical put my young daughter on a 2 week wait period and it makes me nervous to not do anything.

What do you think?
