Subject: | Deep arm pain | |
I occasionally have deep pain in my arm extending from just above my elbow and down into my hand. It feels better when heat is applied and when it is wrapped. Any idea what this could be caused by? |

I get that too and for me it is because of a pinched nerve I have in my neck. But I didn't diagnose it myself. I went to my doctor thinking it was a heart attack and he immediately told me it wasn't. He even knew exactly where the pinched nerve was. I didn't know I had it until he squeezed that part of my neck. If you're on the computer a lot try changing the position of the monitor so your head will be in a different position too. And take lots of breaks. Also, see your doctor. |

I'm not sure a pinched nerve in your neck would be helped by wrapping the arm that is effected, but I've never had that issue. It could also be carpal tunnel, but I don't believe that gets much relief from being heated so a pinched something seems more likely.I would definitely head into a doctor who can see you and pinpoint the issue better. |

It does help because that nerve is connected therefore the heat soothes it. I have the same condition and so I know that what is said is true and does seem to help. Though it starts in the neck applying heat to my left shoulder blade area helps as well. |

I think you should talk to your doctor about this. Deep pain in the arm, especially if it is your left arm, can be caused by heart problems. Skatts mentioned he thought he was having a heart attack when he had arm pain - a very legitimate concern. |
