Subject: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

My job involves constantly working with the keyboard and I am considered at some risk of developing this problem. We are provided with basic straightforward keyboards on the job. Do special keyboards make a big difference or is just the padded support you can buy separately make just a much difference?

See if you can get a padded keyboard from your company. Sometimes they are provided for employees. They do make a difference.

Also, try to take a break every 45 minutes and let your hands just hang down and move your wrists around. Walk away from your desk so no one can ask you to do something.

Taking frequent, short breaks help too.

There are also mouse pads on the market that have a padded area to rest your wrist on. They work great. Also, there are exercises you can do to strengthen your hand & wrist. A quick Google search should bring up a lot of resources.

Correct posture can help along with frequent breaks. I recently discovered I had carpal tunnel and I wear braces to bed every night and they help a lot.
