Subject: Cancers

It seems like there are so many types of there its hard to keep up. Does anyone know of one site that has a list (not wiki) of all types with some common language (not doctor speak). I need to do some researching for a family member. :(

This is one of the worst conditions that someone can find them self in. I don't know about any particular web site, just Google it.

My friend recently died from prostate cancer, it was awful! Four months that he went trough were pure torture. I wouldn't wish that to anyone!

Sorry to hear about your family member and a friend. Cancer is a very sneaky disease. And it is at the same time one of the most awful ones!

The National Cancer Institute has a list of all types of cancer with links that you can click on for more information on one specific type. I have included the link below.

Unfortunately, many of us have been touched by this unforgiving disease in one way or another. The American Cancer Society website has information on the different types and treatments available; http://www.cancer.org/docroot/home/index.asp. Let us know, if we can be of more help.

It seems like cancer is becoming more and more prevalent these days. I don't know if it's so, but I wonder if we aren't exposing ourselves to too much and the body just can't handle it. I know there is risk in cigarette smoke-even second hand smoke and in some chemical exposure but is it possible that things we come in contact with every day may be causing some of these cancers?

I don't know about anything that talks about it in layman's terms unfortunately. Sometimes it is simply easier to sit and pick through the info you need and keep searching for terms that you don't understand until you get to the point that you know what you are reading.

My town is affected pretty much with cancer. And it is not just the people I don't know. I can't number how many friends and their relatives suffer from this condition.

Yes you are right, this is happening nowadays more than before. Just three friends of mine got it in the last three years. I just fear for my health when I think about it.

It seems to be one of the biggest words most people tend to fear for themselves or others close to them. I just really do not get it, I guess times do change since way back when we just always heard that someone died (never knew why), now since we know why, it scares us even more so.

You are right about that. Maybe it was easier when we didn't knew what was the reason. I know it sounds silly but it's true in my opinion.
