Subject: | Bulged Disc | |
I have a bulged disc in my lower back. S1 position to be exact. It bulges inward and if I experience any inflammation it interferes with my spinal cord. I experience occasional tingling in my feet when things are going well. If the muscles go into spasm I can't get out of bed. My neurologist says there is very little damage to the nerves but his prognosis for me has been decidedly negative. Until this condition developed I primarily worked at blue collar jobs and now that I cannot do heavy lifting or prolonged standing most companies won't consider hiring me. I am also unable to sit in a chair all day so that further limits my employability. Work has proved be one of the least of my problems. I am quite adaptable and currently work in an office environment where I am able to move around. I have heard that regularly suspending myself so that my back can stretch out is helpful. I also hear it is important to stretch my hamstrings to relieve pressure. Does anyone else have any helpful suggestions. Incidentally chiropractic adjustment makes the condition worse that has already been tried. |

That's too bad. Do you know what caused the bulging disk and can they do anything to help fix it? I know there are things that can be done surgically for herniated disks and such. |

I'm sorry to hear of your problem. Have you gone to a specialist on slipped discs? I had three a few years ago and my left leg was unbearable painful. But after six months the pain subsided. Please ask your primary doctor to recommend a doctor for you. Your neurologist might not be the kind of doctor that can get in there and relieve your suffering. |

I'm so sorry to hear of your problem. I also have a disc buldge in a different disc in my lower back. I went through a lot of physical therapy including them stretching my spine. All of that helped and as long as I don't lift anything heavy or sit too long, I do okay. I take Ultram if it gets to bothering me too much. |

I would go and talk to a doctor. Anything that acts with your spine like that could be an early sign more is to come. |

I had a spinal fusion done at L5S1. I am still having problems just not the same kind as before surgery. I can`t stand more than 2 min. I can`t walk very far maybe about 12ft. I am trying to get disabiltiy right now. I also take ultramER and Soma. I use the generic. I need more surgery because my surgeon said that the screws may be loose or he may have to take out the hardware in my back. I also had a neck fusion too. I tired chiroprators. It helped a little but not much. By the time I had surgery on my back I had no disc left at all. |
