Subject: Blocked Salivary Gland

I suspect that I have a blocked salivary gland. I'm having pain, very sharp, very strong, in the area of the parotid gland when I eat. Its as the saliva starts to flow, and when the pain stops I feel like my mouth is totally awash.

Can I get rid of this at home?

You can get little calcium stones form in the ducts. It is sometimes possible to massage them out-eat something sour to make your mouth water, massage as you eat, and hope it comes out.

Sometimes though it needs surgery, and infections can result without.

I've had one or two of these and they always resolved on their own. They really are horribly painful when they happen, but so far I've not had one go bad on me.

I'll give it a try, as I don't fancy going to the docs about this just yet, it kind of seems a bit silly. It hurt just once today, so I am hoping maybe its working its way out as yesterday was much worse.

Oh, my, that sounds terrible. I didn't even know that this could happen. Is it something that a person must be prone to in order to worry about?

I don't know-I've had stones in almost every part of me that its possible to have stones so it would seem that yes, I have a problem with calcium stone formation.

I never even knew something like this was possible. It seems sometimes we overlook the smallest things thinking they do not matter at all. Even more thinking of a stone being there is just "wow" (eye opening shock).

My Uncle developed calcium stones in his salivary glands and they weren't so little. They started to get infected and he went to the doctor. The doctor was able to extract the biggest one without surgery. A bit was actually sticky out. According to my Uncle the pain was exquisite. When they were out though it was a great relief. The pain went away almost completely right away.
