Subject: | Bad stomache cramps | |
Whenever I eat cake or ice cream from an ice cream store I get terrible cramps in my lower abdomen. Until I finally am able to ,well you know, it doesn`t stop. Could this be colitis? |

Sounds to me like you are lactose intolerant, a perfectly normal condition for adults. As we age we lose the ability to properly process dairy foods, and as a result we get discomfort and abdominal/intestinal issues. Best thing to do would be to avoid the trigger foods, but you can also use a supplement called lactaid when you are eating known trigger foods to help aid with your digestion. |

you can do one of three things. The first is before eating take a Lactase. It works great. second you can try a bendryl. Sometimes its mroe of an allergic reaction than a lactose problem. The third is go to teh ehalthfood store and get the liquid enzyme. I also read that eating exceptionally hard cheese a little every day builds up a tolerance. I know a few peopele who did that when they had the same trouble as you and it worked for them. it cam also be a reaction to the food and certain medications or vitamins herbals you may be taking if you are taking any |

It could also be IBS or as it more commonly known, Irritable Bowel Syndrone. It is almost like colitis and almost like being lactose intolarnt. Certain foods, caffine or even stress can cause cramps and diarreha. My brother in law has it and he can't drink Dr. Pepper, one of his favorite drinks. Best thing to do is go to the doctor and let them do a test that will tell you what it is. |
