Subject: | Arthritis and rain | |
Why does arthritis get worse when its rainy or damp. I used to think this was nonsense but as I'm getting older its hard to not see the connection between rainy weather and increased joint pains and aches. |

Rheumatoid arthritis is affected by rain, dampness, and changes in barometric pressure. Osteoarthritis is usually not so sensitive to cold/damp. |

When it rains, the barometric pressure of the atmosphere changes and that pressure bothers the inflamed and swollen joints of arthritis. I find that all changes in the weather makes my arthritis more painful. My pain only quiets down when the weather doesn't change at all for a few days and the barometric pressure remains the same. |

Is there a limit say between where you are and where the dampness is for it to make a difference? I have no issues when I am actually in water like a pool, shower or bath but when it rains, my aches start up. |
