Subject: Arthritis and rain

Why does arthritis get worse when its rainy or damp. I used to think this was nonsense but as I'm getting older its hard to not see the connection between rainy weather and increased joint pains and aches.

Rheumatoid arthritis is affected by rain, dampness, and changes in barometric pressure. Osteoarthritis is usually not so sensitive to cold/damp.

When it rains, the barometric pressure of the atmosphere changes and that pressure bothers the inflamed and swollen joints of arthritis. I find that all changes in the weather makes my arthritis more painful. My pain only quiets down when the weather doesn't change at all for a few days and the barometric pressure remains the same.

Is there a limit say between where you are and where the dampness is for it to make a difference? I have no issues when I am actually in water like a pool, shower or bath but when it rains, my aches start up.
