My wife last week had a tooth pulled and it was a very difficult removal. Apparently the roots were hooked. She followed the dentist instructions for care afterward but Sunday it started to swell. I told her it was serious and took her straight to the hospital. They diagnosed the abscess and injected medicine to bring it under control and then prescribed antibiotics. She followed up with the dentist today who performed some additional treatment. It is coming around but it really wasn't a whole lot of fun.

Abscesses are never fun and can often come with serious health complications. Often when pulling teeth it can become an issue even if you follow the care instructions given to you. Its good to hear she's come out alright though.

Sounds pretty painful.

yikes. I've had an abcessed tooth, but not a socket. That sounds really painful! Pulling teeth is riskier than people think because of the chance of infection in the socket.

The pain is still pretty bad. She doesn't wish that on anyone. It is visibly improving though and hopefully by the end of the week she will be pain free.

Hasn't anyone given her something to help with the pain?

That pain is a really bad one! Even if she is being strong about it, there's no reason she should suffer from pain.

Poor gal. Tooth problems make me shudder! I hope she feels better real soon.
