The Texas Department of State Health Services has sent out a warning against eating uncooked tomatoes because they fear a salmonella outbreak. There has already been 12 cases reported since mid April, fortunately there has been no deaths. http://www.bizjournals.com/austin/stories/2008/06/02/daily31.html |

Oh NO! Just as we are seeing that tomatoes are so good for health and can protect us from so many diseases, now people are going to be afraid to buy fresh tomatoes. In my neighborhood, you still can't get a good bag of spinach since the couple of cases of people getting ill from raw fresh spinach. I hope that doesn't happen to tomatoes. I love tomatoes. |

Most people eat tomatoes uncooked, right? This is scarey. I wonder how the tomatoes become infected in the fields. |

This is predominately New Mexico and Texas that the warning for not eating "RAW" red tomatoes went out. But still I wonder how far spread they are finding this contamination to be now. |
