Subject: Natural Organic Foods

How much effort do you put into buying and consuming natural and organic foods? Most major food store chains seem to carry at least some natural and organic products. I do make an effort to buy as much as I can provided the prices are not outrageous which unfortunately they sometimes are.

I try to but the prices make it really hard to do. We live in a small, small town and there is not a lot available for us to get and what is available is very expensive.

I try to buy as much organic as possible but I find that it hard to buy in small enough quantities to prevent the food from spoiling. I live alone and because of the lack of perservatives I seem to throw out more than I eat. Unfortunately I don't have money to throw away.

We haven't really gotten into buying organic, because of the expense and I'm actually afraid to try it. I'd hate to spend that extra money on it and then not be able to eat it. :(

I have given up. I hate to say this, but I can no longer afford it.

So to do what I can I have turned my pretty garden into a veggie garden and am growing everything I can manage for myself. I still buy organic milk, that's all.

We don't buy much organic. We try to grow as much organic as we can. I think we are doing better that way because I don't always trust store "organic" if you know what I mean. The term organic has become too mixed up with politics and money.

I like to buy organic, but I agree with most of you fellow posters--it's expensive. So, I do it where I can justify the expense, but can't do it with everything.

If I had a yard, I would plant my own garden so I could get some cheap organic veggies.

It sad that it is so difficult when you live in a big city to have a place to grow a garden. I live in an apartment and veggies really don't make the window boxes look very appealing unless maybe you're hungry.

We live in a small town and we have a small orchard which provides food (fruits and vegetables) for our family for a whole year.

That is great Kirk. Having your own source of food, being independent. Is it hard to maintain such an orchard? What plants do you have exactly?

What do you think?
