I was searching google to buy some muscle rub for myself and I came across a startling article about at 17 year old athlete who overdosed on muscle rub! I had no idea some of these rubs were dangerous.

At 6 times the normal dosage, this girl must have been rubbing the cream in almost constantly. If someone is in that much pain on a daily basis, something is wrong and should have been looked into medically. Someone should have noticed this girl had a problem.

Wow I had no idea that you could OD on muscle cream. 6x the recommended amount is a lot of cream. I wonder if she was being advised by any of the schools coaches or trainers.

I have a feeling with her age and the fact that no one really seemed to notice the extreme pain she was in, this will not be the last time we hear about this story at all. Its very sad and yes you can OD on relief creams like this.

I read about this quite some time ago. The young lady was using astronomical quantities of the stuff. I really don't understand how her coaches and her parents could have not noticed. I've used small amounts to help relax tight or painful muscles but I would never even consider glopping that much on.

I didn't know that rubbing on more of this stuff could actually cause an OD and eventually lead to death. I mean it makes some sense now that I've read the article - but I never gave it any thought before and if I was in serious pain, probably could have done the same thing.

It makes sense that this can happen, as startling as it is. For the stuff to work some has to be absorbed, which means there is a risk of too much getting into the body. A dosage is listed for a reason.
