Subject: | Flip Flops Can Harm Your Feet! | |
LOL, I just couldn't stop myself from having that kind of subject title. Unfortunately it's kind of true. We all love to wear flip flops in the summer. They are cool, cheap and come in all those great fun colors! Diabetics know to not wear them because too many things can harm your feet if you wear them, but studies show that you completely change your gait when you have flip flops on and they can cause trouble for your hips, knees, ankles, and back. They took videos of people walking in thong-style flip-flops, as opposed to athletic shoes and they found that people take smaller steps and don't permit their heels to hit the ground with the same force as in regular walking. To keep the shoes on, they kept their toes clenched and didn't swing their feet as much, putting additional pressure on their ankles. But fortunately the researchers know better than to tell people not to wear their much loved thong-style flip-flops. They advise us to just not wear them all day long and to change off to strong shoes later in the day. Also don't wear them until they fall apart. Buy a few pairs and throw them out after three months of wearing them. I guess that's OK. By the time October comes around, no one wants to wear their flip flops any more -- at least in the colder climates. And just between you and me -- Don't ever wear socks with thong-style flip-flops! It's not unhealthy, it just looks awful! |

Yea, I've read that too. Flip flops can give you cancer, too, because your feet are more exposed to the harmful sun radiation. |

They actually are a little dangerous too. i can't even drive my car(5 speed) wearing them. I can imagine it is a little unsafe as well as bad for your back too! |

I never heard about the cancer thing either. I'm not sure if that is true. I know they do not have the support that you need- but they are ok to wear from time to time. I don't know if you realize- My bottom of my feet are so tough- they get this way when I go barefoot or in flip-flops. |

I am always in flip flops or sandals that just slip on. Now my favorite is the new ones called um , I can`t remember the name , you now the rubber ones with the holes? The real ones cost $30. The supposedly fake ones are $5. I tried on both and I see no difference at all. My fake ones are soooooo comfortable. I wear them all the time. I have three different colors. I love them. |

I love my flip flops and nothiung you can say will stop me from wearing them. Granted they were never designed for walking long distances so I just wear them around the garden and walking on the hot sand to the sea, and then to the bar!!! |
