Subject: Ergonomic Chairs

Yes, have back trouble and I shouldn't sit all day as per my doctor. Problem is when you have a bad back most people won't offer you a job that allow you to do things other than sit all day. I think a better quality chair will help me when my lifestyle can't. Does anyone here know much about quality ergonomic chairs and what to look for?

Have you seen the ones that you kneel on? They were popular several years ago but they aren't around any more. I had one for a while and it did seem to strengthen my back somewhat. I'd see if I could borrow one from someone to see if you like it first before you commit to buy. Some stores also will let you try before you buy, which may not be a bad idea.

Sammy, I remember those! They were really funny looking and didn't have a back rest on it. They were comfortable to use though. It also kept you alert because if you fell asleep in it you fell in the floor!

I have seen some of these chairs and I can really say that no I can not afford a %4k chair, even if it will help me.

I doubt I am alone in this either, I know many with back issues. When it comes to taking care of your family or spending 4k on yourself, most I know would opt for the other stuff.

I was told that high back chairs are bad to have as they lead to people being lazy and laying up against it when they should be sitting up straight. Anyone heard this before?

You can get some support pillows but I wonder how good they are. I have a lumbar support pillow and it feels pretty good but my thoracic area hurts when I use it although it does help the lumbar area. So I guess I can't win for losing!

No chair is any good if your posture is bad. You need to teach your children to have good posture as they grow so their backs will be strong. If you have trouble with your back you hurt all over.
