Subject: | BP Cuffs not accurate as some had thought | |
It was posted at a medical board that many of the at home cheap and expensive BP cuffs are nto reading as accurate as they are supposed. the differentiations from office quality can be as much as 30 to 50 points. Which can cause a panic and raise BP even more. Mnay BP units need to be tested against your doctors office, much like a glucose or cholesterol meter. Thsi will ensure your both on teh right page and your results are accurate. j |

I know if your health insurance pays for the BP cuff, they also teach you how to use it and make sure it is calibrated properly compared to their cuff. |

We have a battery operated cuff. I think it needs new batteries lol. It used to be pretty acurate but now its way off. |

So which direction are they off in? Saying your BP is lower than it really is, or higher? That sounds like it could be a recipe for danger! |

I think all companies should offer to calibrate these devices if they are going to continue to sell them over the counter. |

30 to 50 points?! That is a MAJOR error, these things should be taken off the market before someone gets hurt. |
