Toddler Constipation vs Diarrhea

My toddler usually has normal bowel movements. However he occasionally becomes constipated or at least has rather hard bm's. When the constipation resolves itself its usually with a terrible diarrhea-like bm. Now I have usually tried to increase the fiber and juice in his diet by then, but it just seems odd how it happens like this. Is this normal?

I'd say it's normal as long as it resolves itself rather quickly. If it doesn't, try the BRATY diet: bananas, rice, apples, toast, yogurt until he gets better.

you should probably be giving him more fiber and juice on a regular basis. This should take care of the problem.

I seen this in my kids as well and their Doc never was concerned about it. I imagine it is the bodies natural way of loosening the bowels that sometimes goes too far,

I think all kids poos differ on a daily basis as long as there is no major cause for concern if so then pop to your GP for advise.
