Do you have any tips for helping soothe a teething baby? What has worked for you? What hasn't? How do you handle sleepless nights when you are up with a screaming baby?

I picked up some hard plastic popsicles and let my kids chew on them when they were really cold and that helped during the day to appease them. Though I've not had many things that worked at bedtime.

I think patience is a good key that any parent or caregiver needs to remember to have even during the hard times. Some babies like things to chew on, others not so much.

When my children were teething, I had good luck with baby Tylenol and baby Oregel. Neither of them liked chewing on anything because their gums were so sore.

When my kids were babies they didn't go for teething rings either. My son, unfortunately, liked to bite on my shoulder better than anything! I used Tylenol and baby Orajel for both of mine and sometimes I even put a clean damp washcloth in the freezer for a few minutes and let them chew on that.

Mine used to bite their fists all you can do is be patient and if they are really hot and suffering then calpol is always good.

I had luck with a frozen plastic pretezel as a teether. It has water in it and once you freeze it my kids were not as fussy that is for sure.

There are lots of things you can buy to put in the fridge that can help sooth the pain.

Calpol is tylennol in the US. I personally resorted to Ibuprofen in the end because it was the only thing that would get us a decent amount of sleep (8 hours instead of four). It's not good long term, but for occasional is ok.
