Preteen and knee pain

My 12 year old has been experiencing knee pain lately. He has not injured it that he can recall. He says its hurts to walk after a while and he can't bend it back as far as normal. Could this just be growing pains? Or could it be something more? At what point would you seek medical intervention?

My son who is 10 years old is experiencing the same thing. It seems only to bug him when he walks a lot or does a lot of execrise.

I think if he cannot bend it correctly it needs to get checked out by a doctor. It could be a problem with the way he is walking which is causing his knee to hurt. Always better to seek a doctors advice.

My niece is the same way. She actually had bumps under her knees- Is this the same as your son?

It was diagnosed as Osgood Slaughter disease or something like that. Something they will grow out of. And it has to do with growing and a lot of usage on the knees.

Honestly this sounds like more than just growing pains to me. I would have it examined by a doctor at least as a precaution. Another thought is to go to a chiropractor they often can fix more than just your back.
