Prenatals

I took $44.00/month prenatal drugs while I was pregnant with my son. I insisted on the pills with fish oil to promote healthy brain performance. I read that this raises there IQ. The normal pills were $3.00/month. My hubby thought I was nuts.

well since IQ is heavily dependent on genetic make up,and fish oils don't pass to the baby unchanged, it is difficult for me to understand the correlation between the mother eating fish oils and the baby having a high IQ.

Do you have a website or something else that talks about the theory behind this?

I'm not sure about fish oil correlation to a high IQ but if it made you feel better to take them then fine as long as your doctor knew what you were doing.

I agree with the poster who said that your body processes what it gets. If you had at least some essential fatty acids in your body (and you would have had) then the baby would have got enough-that's the way the body works. The mother goes without so that the body can give the baby what it needs.

My wife took the cheap prenatals, but she also took a supplement for omegas, and for vitamin E. In total her bottles didn't cost $10, and one was for six months supply.

I think that as long as you eat healthy and take prenatatls, what ever kind they may be, everything will be fine. What's most important is what you do once your baby is outside.
Physical and verbal interaction have been linked to not only brain growth but also healthier babies. So talk to your baby often, hold her close. Lots of skin to skin contact. i guarentee you will have a smarter healthier baby.
