Parents lack fact about child development

I am not totally surprised. Since over the last few decades, even more children are being born to children, who have not had thechance to fully develop yet to take on the responsibility of raising children. Non profit organisations (eg. churches, clubs) could also take a share in helping to inform parents.

I think education on many levels would be good to have, but I don't think some of these places have the resources needed to do more than they already are.

Why don't we do things the old fashioned way like parents talking to their own children about things?? We need to teach our kids about safe sex, responsibility and making smart choices...all the things they should be learning from us, not the schools or other groups.

Nothing can make people be more responsible. There are plenty of parents who were smart in school, got good grades and are still complete idiots when it comes to being a parent. You can't make them realize what they are doing, or start acting differently and education only goes so far.

Are you meaning to say that more people are having babies at a young age, or that people aren't educated on child development?

I does sadden me when I see people making some of the parenting choices they do. It would make their lives so much easier if they understood ages and stages and that would explain much about their child's behavior. Instead, they think their child is "bad" or naughty.

There are plenty of resources for those who seek them. The problem is NOT that the information isn't available. It's lackadaisical parenting.

I've read about this too. In the study they did they took into account age of parents, education level and I think even areas they live in. I personally don't think it's just younger parents that don't always have the knowledge but there are also some "older" parents that don't know too.The study covered all of that so it's not fair to assume it's just the younger generations. In some cases it is but theres a lot of parents just not caring in general and assuming kids need to develop by this rate or they shouldn't do this by that age.

Proper education could go a long way. I know that's said and discussed so much, but it's true.

I saw an episode of Maury the other day where this 15 yr old girl had sex with over 20 men THREE HUNDRED TIMES+ just to try to get pregnant! ALL were unprotected sex!

WHY? Because that's our society today...so many teenage pregnancies, grant-it, it's lower than it was a few years ago, but it's still a problem.

She wanted to get pregnant to have a baby, to feel loved, and to love it - the dumbest excuse I've ever heard.

Get a doll!
