multi vitamins

I am avid in giving my children daily multi vitamins. I know that todays food just doesn't have the minimal nutrients that are children need.

I always took a multi-vitamin when I was a kid. Flinstones I believe (or something you could bite the head off of) as it was the popular one at the time. My mom's theory was even if the food she fed me was nutritious and what not it couldn't hurt to be sure. And its much easier to get your kid to take vitamins when they are growing than try to fix their health later on.

Is there a question about the benefits of children taking vitamins? I haven't heard anything in the news. Other than there is a risk of kids taking too many of the vitamins if they are too tasty, I don't think anyone is against children -- or anyone -- taking a simple multi vitamin.

There should be no problem as long as you don't let them walk around with the jar and eat them like candy.

I always took Flinstones vitamins as a kid as well. However, recently I hear those have aspertame in them. You may want to check the label.

We never took the marketed "children's vitamins" because my mom saw them as being just a marketing ploy and not having much in them. I did take a multivitamin from a local health food store, even though I was getting lots of nutrients from food anyway.

I don't get what you mean by "today's food" not having enough nutrients. If you are feeding your children a wholesome diet, they should be fully capable of getting their minimum requirements. Remember, humans didn't evolve taking vitamins, we are amazing adapters
