what do you do for kids with gastrointestinal viruses? My son is vomiting today, and if he has what my mom had, the runs should set in soon. :(
I'm not worried too much about dehydration because he takes most his nutrition from breastmilk still.

I do the BRAT diet: bananas, rice, apples, toast. If he's getting a lot of breastmilk, great. You can also give him gatorade or pedialite.
Good luck. Hope mama doesn't get sick too.

I've never heard of the "BRAT diet" before, but that sounds like a good rule to follow. We usually follow something similar, with toast and crackers being first and lots of water. Usually it just has to run its course, so best to try to make sure all the nutrients are kept up.

The BRAT diet sounds good, but don't breast feed the child if he's too old!
Have you tried Pepto Bismal? How old is your kid?
