How safe are those snacks?
|
|
I know every kids love snacks. No? You mean you as an adult love them too? Anyhow, I am beginning to wonder how safe are those snacks to our health. I think there are a lot of addictives, coloring, preservatives, sugar and salt in them. Not only are they nutritional-less but also pose a health hazard to our bodies. The only thing that I don't know is to what extent.

I think anything pre bought has a high sugar and salt content like anything feed in moderation.

I agree that they should only be given in moderation and they are mostly crammed full of things that are simply not good for us. It is harder and harder to find things that are affordable and healthy though so I see why they are so popular.

We don't snack a lot to be honest, at least not on typical snack foods. Fruit, sometimes dried fruit, yoghurt, cream cheese (fat free). These tend to be the bulk of our snacks.

Moderation is the key. Snacks have so many bad things for you anymore you must watch your intake.

Eat moderately? With the addictives thrown in the snack, I can hardly stop myself eating once I started them. This is especially true for those crispy crackers!

I love to snack...it's my downfall! I am trying to remind myself to eat in moderation, but, like you I over do it. I am getting better at just not buying my "at-risk" foods though. If they aren't in the house, I can't eat them, right?

Unfortunately we are surrounded by high fat, high sugar, and high taste foods and snacks and kids are getting the worst of it because they don't cook and so tend to buy these ready made foods, meals and snacks.
In order to stop all of us from becoming ill by over eating these foods, we all really have to try and not have any of them. It's not going to be easy, but if the health of our kids are at stake maybe it's worth turning away from the convenience of these foods?
