Couch Potatoes

I have tried everything to get my 2 step daughters to get out of the house and do something rather than sitting in front of the TV or on the computer but they don't want to.

Sadly I think a lot of children are like this now. Maybe you can try to go somewhere. Like a park or playground.

I can totally empathize with you. Kids nowadays don't have the incentive to go out and play. My kids had been begging for a Wii and my wife and I gave in under one condition: that the games would only be sports games. We've also placed time limits on the tv and the Wii and that seems to help. Once they realize there's nothing else in the house to do, they go out and play basketball or jump on the trampoline.

I agree that a good way to get them to go outside is for you and your husband go with them. Take them for a walk or to the zoo or the beach, anywhere really.

Maybe you can arrange for some kind of activity for them to participate in like softball, or gymnastics.

I think we as parents have to take charge for their own good. There has to be a balance. We have to find ways to get more physical and spend time in the outdoors while enjoying the experience.
