Baby Bottom Blisters
|
|
What would cause a baby to get blisters on her bottom? I change her often and have been using cream on her for a rash but with or without the cream she has gotten these blisters. Could it be related to the fact that with are air cooling unit on full blast it never gets under 85* and she is sweating all the time?? Therefore she is not staying completely dry?

There could be several causes of this. What brand of diapers do you use? I have known alot of people who said that Huggies caused their baby girls to get bad rashes which stopped when they changed diaper brands. You might try switching brands to see if its an allergy of some sort.
Also you need to make sure the skin is totally dry before you put cream on it. Try blowing or maybe aim a fan at her tush after you clean her.
The third possibility is a yeast infection. That sounds really scary, but its not. If she has ever had antibiotics then its a definite possibility. Talk to your doctor about that. Try feeding her yogurt everyday (is she old enough?) to help prevent that in the future.
Heat could be the cause, but I doubt it at only 85. If all of the above fail, and you decide that it is heat related, then try putting her diaper on looser, let her go around without a diaper for a few minutes, let her take several lukewarm baths a day, etc. Assuming she is old enough for all of that, of course!

I had that problem and it was the diapers that we were using. Once we changed the problem went away. I do not know if that is you exact problem, but you could give it a try.

Often, letting the baby go without a diaper will help clear this up. Unfortunately, this means you have to either keep the child on a pad to avoid her soiling the surfaces she lies, sits, sleeps, or crawls on.
IF you can keep her diaper free for several hours during the day, when it is warm, the blisters might clear up.

My sister's baby had this problem. They were using Huggies or Pampers but when they switched to the offbrand diapers at Walmart, my nephews bottom cleared up. If it stays blistered up, I would take the baby to a doctor, they might be able to give you something for it.

We had similar issues and it happened with every brand. I changed to cloth and the problem cleared up.
Going diaper free isn't too hard. Do it during tummy time and have the child on a pad.
