.....could do to make sure that the drugs they produce are safe for humans? I know they do drug testing on animals and do human trials. But what else could they be doing to make sure their new drugs are safer for the public?

I really think they need to be policed more by the FDA. We trust our government to keep us safe and sometimes it just isn't realistic. I think the FDA has too much to do to really watch the companies close enough to keep us out of trouble. I don't know what the solution would be.

I think they should sometimes look a little deeper into their own consciences and a be a little less concerned about their profits. Policing them more might help but then it really isn't being addressed from within.

I don't really know what a solution would be. I really think as long as loads of money is connected with the industry,they will continue to try to push through all of the barely discovered drugs and the problems will continue.

I despair that they will ever be altruistic. They are in business to make a living and the two don't go hand in hand. I don't know what we as a nation, could do to prevent all of the problems but I agree that more needs to be done by them in house to prevent problems than relying on any agency to check up on problems.
