Subject: | Massachusetts introduces first bill to ban big pharma gifts | |
Massachusetts Senate President Therese Murray is pushing a bill that would require the state to ban pharmaceutical marketing gifts and also adopt electronic medical records. If the bill is adopted by Massachusetts,it would be the first state to ban pharmaceutical marketing gifts. The bill would stop representatives of of big pharma companies from offering gifts and ban physicians from accepting them. The ban would also include physicians’ staffs and family members. However doctors would still be allowed to recieve samples from big pharma marketers. Also, The new bill would set aside $25 million to help create a statewide system of electronic medical records by 2015. |
