Subject: | Ask for Samples! | |
I used to be involved in medicine, and the number of drug reps we had coming in and out of the office on a weekly basis is staggering. One thing that these reps ALWAYS do is drop of sample medications for the physicians. Most of the time the physicians just sign for things without paying any attention, so its important for you, when you go in to your doctor, to ask if they have any samples in the office for the Rx you may need - there is usually a good chance they will! |

I know theer was an article about a few states are going to the no samples and no premiums for physicians anymore. If your state still allows it, that si awesome. Yes by all means get samples before you go for that RX. I think thatw as probbaly one of teh samrtest things the pharmaceutical companies could ahve ever done. That method of medication dispensing saved allot fo lives too. |

I have always asked for samples just in case I run out before I remember to refill my meds. |

What states are outlawing samples? I have not heard of this yet - I am out in California and we still get tons of samples:) Does this new legislation mean the drug reps will be out of jobs? |

Wow, no more pharmaceutical samples? Anyone know why? I can guess--possibly people have been trying to misuse them. I hope that doesn't happen in my state--definitely worth looking into. |

Many times the samples left by the representatives are for new medicines that have just hit the market. They encourage doctors to change their patients to these new, higher priced, non-generic medications. When I worked for a local doctor, reps would take the entire staff to dinner to push the newest drug one actually took us to a french restruant and we ordered four course meals. |

My doctor is very good about giving out samples. He recently gave me a new migraine medicine to try because he knew it was going to be high price because it is new. He didn't want me to pay for it, if I didn't like it. |
