Subject: | Treating Warts with Duct Tape? | |
I was reading the latest issue of Parents and it has a list of alternative treatments for common childhood issues. The one that caught my eye was duct tape for warts. It suggests covering the wart with duct tape, changing when it gets nasty looking, and in about a month it will be gone. Any feedback on if this works? Is there a specific type of wart this works better on than others? |

It's not just duct tape, it's any tape that you can tightly fix on top of a wart. It keeps it from getting all the blood supply it needs, I guess. I have heard that this works well for years now. It's cheap and not at all dangerous. If I had warts, I'd try it. |

I have never thought of something like this, nor heard of it before today. Does make sense but what about removing it at the end? |

Removing the tape? you just pull it off. ;) I've used this. It doesn't work on plantar warts, but it works on other kinds. |

I wonder why it doesn't work on plantar warts. They are caused by the same type of virus aren't they, and are basically the same thing. |

This is quite interesting, never heard of it till today. I have warts and would like to find a way to get rid of them. What is the difference in a planter wart and another wart? |

Yep! My mom used to do this. It doesn't work on 'every' kind of wart, but for some, it works wonders. Give it a try and you might be surprised at the results. :) |

If it doesn't work on them all, has anyone here tried the freezing them method? I am curious to see how it works and if it really does. |

I've never heard of that, and it sounds quite painful. You may want to try applying rubbing alcohol to it daily and/or white vinegar. It may have a bit of a burning sensation for 5 seconds but you'll see it disappear. |

i got a wart on my finger from a publis pool when we went for diving lessons. Duct tape didint work for me, though Iam diabetic so that has something to do with it. Plantar warts and general warts are both caused by a virus. What changes is where they are located. Plantar is most common on foot and others on hands. The mayo clinic articles on common warts give great ideas on treatment. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/common-warts/DS00370/DSECTION=6 http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/plantar-warts/DS00509 |

I have heard of this before and it has worked for someone I know although I have never had to try it myself. |
