Subject: Natural Living-Healtheri Lives?

I know a few people who claim that by living naturally-eating organic, lots of fruit and veggies, avoiding the junk foods and chemical products in the home.

But does it actually help? Anyone have either some anecdotal evidence or studies to that effect?

It might help but the trade off might not be worth it. I have told my doctor when he starts talking about all the things people can do to lengthen their lives, that I seriously doubt I will be able to work a job, even part time, when I am 75.

When I start addressing QUALITY of life, all the arguments for extension in the world fall silent.

People may feel better about their natural lifestyle, and their health may be a bit better as well. But if it means all of the pleasure has to be sucked out of a life in favor of abject poverty in old age, I don't know that they are doing anyone any favors!

LOL

Some studies have been done about vegetarians and other people who restrict their diet and lifestyles. Studies still can't say if it is the lifestyle that has them doing well, or if they do so well only because these people pay so much more attention to their bodies in the first place, so they do better because they have made being healthy their life's primary work.

And then there are always anecdotes about perfectly healthy living people whose genetic make up has then going early, no matter how healthy they tried to live.

If you want to make over your life to become healthy and make it your life's aim to be healthy, it might help some.

But then again, there is no guarantee.

I have heard anecdotal evidence that people who eat healthy and exercise and all that are healthier and happier, not only when they are younger, but also in old age too. If your picture of a quality lifestyle is eating McDonalds and sitting on the couch all weekend, well, then maybe you don't want to live to 70 anyway.

My quality of life isn't anything nearly as drastic as eating McDonald's and living on the couch, but so much of what is being said about health generates money for large companies, that it is better that each person decide for themselves what they WILL enjoy, and have a full life instead of worrying about how long it is.

Quality of life can be good at any age.

My dad is 92 and still lives on his own and exercises and although retired still gets some work related to his field to do.

He is healthy and happy and fulfilled.

You don't know what your life will be like as a senior citizen.

I don't think anyone needs to go entirely organic to be healthy. It would be helpful to us all to live a more healthy life style though

What do you think?
