As a long-time music aficionado and one-time acting pro, I can tell you that my friends in the field swear by both. Music and art begin communication where spoken language ends, which seems to be a very effective tool for the handicapped. It allows a view of the world unencumbered. |

I have done some art therapy and was amazed by how powerful it was. The assignments seemed really small and superficial but they had a deep effect. I think part of the power of working with images is that it makes us stop our internal, verbal narrative and helps us see things from a different point of view. I was just thinking this afternoon, in fact, that I would like to try that again. I am usually more verbal than not and it feels very good to step out of that. |
