Subject: Magnets

Do magnets really do anything. My mother wears some magnetic jewelry to help with her arthritis. From what I can see it doesn't appear to be doing any good except that she thinks it makes her feel better.

I have two friends who wear magnets in a bracelet for their arthritis in their hands and they say that they seem to work.

They gave me a bracelet with magnets in it to try wearing for my arthritic knee. I don't know if the bracelet was too far away from my knee to work, but it didn't so anything for me at all.

But I figure that the mind is the most powerful controller of pain that people have, and that if they think that the magnets or anything else that they use is making them feel better, and there is no down side in using it, then they should keep using the magnets.

If the magnets makes your Mom feel better, than I say it's a good thing.

I agree that sometimes it is just a case of mind over matter, but if it helps someone feel better, then I am all for it.

I used a magnet bracelet for my wrist. I didn`t see any improvement though. I guess I wasn`t really expecting it to work or maybe it would have. That mind over matter really does work.

My grandma used to wear a magnetic bracelet, someone had told her it helped with blood pressure. She did not comment on whether it worked or not, and eventually she stopped wearing it, so I would guess it did not do much.

I found out that magnetic therapy has a backlash. If oyu are prone to thrombosis then the iron in teh blood will create clots around teh magnetic field. They are tiny but none the less dangerous.

I am prone to DVT so magnets are not for me.
