Subject: | Growing aloe plants | |
I've always kept a couple of aloe plants in the house just as my grandmother did. When we were kids and got minor burns she always would snap a piece off and squeeze the juice on the burn. I do the same thing now. |

I know a lot of people who also do this. I tried to do it years ago but my dark apartment with no real sun getting in wasn't the right place for the aloe plant to thrive. Keep growing it. The plant's sap on a burn or scratch does wonders, I've been told. |

I have had it applied to me many times in my childhood, but haven't used it much as an adult. I guess it's time to go back to the basics. |

Aloes were commonly used when I was a child, the women used to use it in their hair as well, to give it a nice sheen and to make it strong. |

I do not have an aloe plant at home but I wish that I did. I had never considered, till recently, the huge benefit to having one around for first aid. Might have to invest. |

We have had at lease one aloe plant around for years. It definitely does wonders for minor burns, scrapes and insect bites. I've given a few small off-shoots to friends so they can benefit from them. George |

I used to have one, or I should say one of my roommates did long ago. I have no idea how to grow one of those but it was nice to have around. Does the aloe you buy in the bottle for sunburn work as well? |

We have an aloe out in the garden, but it is looking rather weak, I have yet to use it for burns, but would like to know what other uses it has, I will have to investigate. |

I have since moved the aloe plant...well husband did, to a much brighter spot in the garden and it is now coming on a treat. |
