Subject: Foods that have potassium

If some of you are like me and were wondering what foods are rich with potassium here is a helpful list:

apricots

dates

strawberries

turkey

bananas

watermelon

cantaloupe

raisins

prunes

citrus fruits

beets

greens

spinach

tomatoes

mushrooms

soy products

veggie burgers

peas

beans

fish

beef

salmon

cod

You use the potassium mineral as a component for balancing the pH of your body, for normal water balance in your body, and for normal muscle growth. I heard it also helps prevent muscle cramps.

for healthy nervous system and brain function

Well, by looking at your list, I can tell that I get a more than adequate supply of potassium. One you should add is potatoes, especially when eaten with the skin still on.

I never knew some of these foods even had that in them! Talk about things you learn new each day. Thank you for the post and showing me some extra things I can fit into my diet.

I'm surprised avocados aren't on that list. I was told they are the best fruit/veggie source after bananas (which I can't eat, because I am allergic).

Potassium is really good for the body, but in moderate quantities. It would have been useful to know what procents of potassium are included in each food.

That is a very detailed list for sure. I eat a lot that is on that list so I should be okay.

Potassium does prevent muscle cramps in my case. When I sleep at night, if I have not eaten a banana during the day I will start having muscle cramps around my knees.
