Subject: | Essential Oils | |
Essential Oils is an alternative to using prescription medication for some conditions. Do you know that an essential oil is an oil from a plant. Do you use Essential Oils? If so what kind and why? I have many different oils that I use, but my favorite one is tea tree oil. This oil is perfect in a first aid kit. It can be applied on the skin in the presence of blood and or pus. Tea Tree has antibacterial, and anti-fungal properties, which actually make the properties work faster in an open wound. In fact, it seems that the worse it is the better it looks the next day. |

I have used olive oil for some time now. I have heard that olive oil offers protection against heart disease by controlling LDL ("bad") cholesterol levels while raising HDL (the "good" cholesterol) levels. Amoung other things, it also helps fight agianst heart disease and colon cancer. |

I have been using Omega 3 fish oils forabout 3 years to relieve joint pain in my knees, it works great. I read online that it can also help prevent heart disease, maintain optimum blood pressure and cholesterol levels and give almost immediate relief from joint pain, migraines, depression, autoimmune diseases and many other conditions. It is also said to be great "brain food". The best part about taking natural oils and supplements, no side effects! |

We also use tea tree oil in household use, such as diaper washing and cleaning. We use many different essential oils, but you should take care applying them directly to the skin. Fish oil and olive oil are not considered essential oils. |

I don't use any oils. I've heard of using tea tree oil for cleaning but not for first aid. I know mom2many said to use caution but what are can happen if you do use it? What are the risks? I've been looking for a Neosporin substitute because I read that it can be harmful over time. |

With Tea tree oil you just don't want to use it in its purest form without diluting it first. This is especially true for babies, children and Seniors. I am middle age and do not have sensitive skin so I can use it straight, but I only use two drops on a q-tip. |

Nobody in my family is sensitive to tea tree oil and we have used it with great success to treat childhood ear infections amoung other things. I would use it with some caution to start with but if you've proven that it isn't an issue I wouldn't hesitate. Remember a little goes a long way. |

How did you use Tea Tree for ear infections? Did you put the oil in the ear? I second that comment on "remember a little goes a long way" |

I use essential oil with vinegar to clean. I don't think most essential oils are intended for consumption. |
