Subject: | Asthma and Exercise | |
I have had asthma all my life, and when I am exercising regularly and making sure that there is plenty of aerobic exercise then it's ok. No medicine needed. Ease up on the exercise and my peak flow drops drastically. I like this as a way of keeping my asthma under control compared to steroids. Does this help anyone else? |

You should still keep your meds around just in case of the big one that could kill you. |

My son has asthma and if he exercises to much his asthma really flares up so we have to watch him closely. |

When my husband plays a lot of basketball, he doesn't have as much trouble with his asthma. He still keeps his inhaler close by but all the running helps his lungs, which means not as much asthma. |

I have also found this to be true - the more I work out, the less I need to use my rescue inhaler. I wonder why this is? |

Some people have allergy induced asthma, others have exercised induced (and of course, some have both). It may be that getting out and exercising means you have less exposure to indoor allergy triggers, like dust mites and cockroaches. |
