I saw a documentary about China and it said that the morning hours in China has the streets filled with people exercising. But, unlike here in the US it's not young or middle aged people running or biking. No, in China the streets are filled with elderly people doing T'ai Chi, Qigong, Fan Dances (Not those kinds of fan dances!) and people holding swords weighing pounds doing martial art moves.
I thought this was so interesting, I also wish that this country had the wisdom to teach people the kinds of exercises that will do them a world of good way into their older years.
Here all we have is running, jogging or tennis and that ruins old knees and legs. Swimming is something that some elderly people do, but you need to have access to a pool. There's golf, but you need to be a member of a club and to be near a golf course that you can afford.
I wish they would have taught me such exercises when I was in school instead of Volley Ball and running and such. I wish they would teach T'ai Chi and Qigong to kids now so that they can do it their whole lives and stay healthy.
Seeing all the elderly exercising, doing such graceful movements makes me want to learn these ways now!
I think I will!
