Anti-Ageing Creams a Hoax?
|
|
Every time I turn the TV on it seems there is another anti ageing product being advertised. But do they work? I mean they are just creams and so on, I don't see how they could really achieve what they claim.

Most of them don't achieve what they claim. Granted some of them are good for your skin and will make you look and feel better. But the outrageous claims that most of them make like, "This cream will make you look 20 years younger", or will "remove all blemishes and wrinkles" are nothing more than marketing gimmicks to make consumers buy their product.

Here is a pretty good answer that I found on Wikipedia.
Despite great demand, many such products and treatments have not been proven to give lasting or major positive effects. A decrease in wrinkle depth of 10% is typical. However, recent studies show that some ingredients have an effect. There are a range of cosmetic treatments for the appearance of wrinkles on the skin such as plastic surgery and botox injections. Advertising sometimes presents anti-aging creams as an alternative to these more costly and invasive cosmetic treatments.

If the products really were a real anti aging product then it would cost a lot more and all the news stations would be screaming that the fountain of youth has been found.
Anti aging claims work more IN your head than on the skin on your head. I guess if you think that your cream is making you younger, you might act younger and feel younger. But you won't be any younger.
Darn!

Yea, but some actual do make you appear younger. True it doesn't take away the years of stress on you body, but it can make you look like it has.

Many of the better creams (have you checked the price for la mer creams?) do have a marked effect on your skin's appearance. They most likely are just better able to keep your skin hydrated which will get rid of lines and fine wrinkles providing your skin was somewhat dry to begin with.

Yes, many of them are just hypes, that is how they make their money. Many creams don't even actually absorb into the skin, and some contain ingredients that just make your skin worse and cause you to use more, because your skin seems drier the next day.

I use an eye cream from Mary Kay which is supposed to help reduce fine lines around the eye. I noticed a difference within a week of using it. I am pretty young still to have "wrinkles" but decided to go ahead and start prevention early.

I sell Avon beauty products and we have a lot of anti-aging product. I've tried samples of many of them but the only one I use all the time is the cream for around the eyes. It seems to be really helpful. I don't notice much improvement with any of the other products.

Not sure about turning the hand back on time or helping to make those wrinkles go away, the most I hear from ladies is that they really make the face soft and smooth.

I saw a story on a current affairs show where scientists proved that regular Sorbolene cream with Vitamin E in it did the same (if not better) job than the expensive name brand creams.
